Active Subterranean Termites

Subterranean termites are the most common termites in the United States and do more damage to your home than any other pests. In this video, you get to see active subterranean termites working, that were found on a piece of wood, laying in the backyard of someone's home.

It sounds like the video was filmed in Georgia. The Southeastern part of the United States has extremely humid and moist climates, which allows for optimal termite living.

While working on track framed homes in the 1980s, I would find termites in the lumber sometimes. You would think that brand-new lumber wouldn't have any termites in it but every once in a while, I would run into a few of these little buggers.

Without the Queen, laying more eggs, these individual termites are no threat. If however there was a piece of lumber with the queen buried inside of it, this could present a problem for your new home.

This video was made by a pest control company and is worth watching.
