Wood Post Repairs

Any damage to wood posts should be taken seriously. Usually these posts are supporting beams and large amounts of weight. Damage to these posts would include cracks, holes from insects like termites, dry rot and large knots that are loose or causing the post to buckle.

Wood posts that are sitting directly on concrete or dirt are susceptible to wood rot in termites. The minimum distance between soil and wood is 6 inches. However, termites can build tunnels on concrete or metal supports if needed for their attack on your home.

Termite damage and wood rot is the number one cause of post-failure. If your post is under sized for the load its caring, it could easily split apart and cause unbelievable damage to your home.

Simply using the proper post supports can prolong the life of your wood post.
