Painted Water Pipe And Cold Water Ground
One of the biggest problems for electrical wires, is poor
electrical connections. In the picture above, someone spray-painted the
house and got over spray on the cold water supply pipe.
This would've been okay, if no one was planning on connecting a cold
water grounds to the copper cold water supply line. This type of
electrical ground isn't going to be as effective as it would have been,
if someone wouldn't have spray-painted the pipe.
Home Repair Tip: This one shouldn't be too hard to fix, but we're going
to need to use a different type of cold water ground connector. You
shouldn't use different types of metals in a situation like this.
If you have a copper pipe and you're going to be installing a cold water
ground with copper electrical wiring, the cold water ground should also
be made from copper.
After you remove the galvanized cold water ground, you should sand the
paint off of the copper pipe. This will give you a good solid electrical
connection.
After you have cleaned all of the paint off of the area where you're
going to be installing your new cold water ground, you can proceed to
the next step of installing the new cold water ground correctly.
