Roof Over Hang Plywood Damage

Roof overhang plywood damage, is one of the most common problems in older homes, especially older homes were the roof is either damaged or needs to be replaced. Sometimes this damage can be caused, by simply installing gutters improperly.

If you run into a situation where the roof overhang plywood damage is visible, it will need to be repaired as soon as possible. One of the biggest problems, with damage like this, is that a large section of the roofing will usually need to be removed, in order to repair the wood damage properly.

Home Repair Tip: To repair your roof overhang plywood damage, you will need to remove as much of the roofing as necessary, to expose the piece of damaged plywood. Always give yourself enough room, to remove the damaged plywood safely.

If you're planning on reusing your roof shingles, you can do this, by removing them carefully. This is usually a time consuming task and some roof shingles, are going to be a little easier to remove and replace than others.

If you're having a difficult time, removing the existing roof shingles, you should plan on purchasing some new shingles, to complete your repair, properly. It's hard to reuse torn or ripped roof shingles

You can cut the damaged plywood, directly over the center of the closest roof rafter, near the damage and then remove and replace the damaged plywood.

After this has been done, you can finish painting your home repair and then, reinstall the roof shingles. A project like this, usually isn't that difficult, but it could be, if the damage is located high above on a two-story roof or in a difficult location. If that's the case, I would advise you to contact a professional to fix your roof overhang plywood damage.
